Sometimes we are our worst enemy! We read books and articles on developing our psi abilities but have problems progressing. Why is that?
Often we sabotage our psychic or intuitive development in several ways. Here are some ways you slow or derail your own development:
Table of Contents
1. By not seeking help from your guides:
When it comes to psychic development, you can’t do it alone. According to Roxburgh and Roe (2014), 100% of the psychic psychics they studied shared that they communicated with external “spiritual guides“.
This means that until you ask for help from your spiritual guides or angels, you may find some success, but you are limiting yourself to the information within you, rather than reaching a higher consciousness.
2. By not being open to all forms of intuitive/psychic messages:
Messages come in many forms, internal and external to us. Most of us know internal messages, such as hearing words, seeing pictures or symbols, or feeling a presence or an emotion.
External messages come in many forms, including as animal messengers, finding a series of feathers or coins, seeing a billboard, hearing a song on the radio, opening a book on the right page that answers a problem you are having, or via dreams or in waking/falling asleep moments.
Being aware of the many ways in which you can receive psychic or intuitive information can greatly improve your development, simply because these messages come to us constantly. If we wait for only the most obvious inputs, we will certainly miss most of the information we receive every day.

3. By not taking notes of what you receive:
Even though you’ve heard so much about keeping a record of your experiences, you haven’t. Writing down the information, ideas and knowledge flashes you receive is an essential part of validation.
Monitoring validation builds trust and provides a better understanding of how your own capabilities work. It is also very important if you receive words or symbols, as you may not immediately recognize their meaning.
When you can go back to your journal and “check” intuitive or psychically validated hits, you can actually see the progress you are making!
4. By not practicing correctly:
Learning to meditate is a great skill and certainly worth it, but it is not an exercise in psychic development! Valuable exercises allow you to train using a specific process or method.
It’s a bit like reading an assembly manual – there are specific steps in the intuition process that make it automatic.
5. By not practicing daily:
Practicing your abilities throughout the day is how we can learn to trust them every day. The next time you get ready for work or out of the house, think about what you will see on that day, who you may meet, the traffic, or what a colleague or friend will be wearing.
Playing these kinds of “mind games” with yourself is just one of the many ways you can incorporate the practice into your endless life every day. Asking these types of questions flexes your “intuition muscles” just as exercise at the gym makes your physical muscles work.

6. By not starting an intuition/psychic circle:
Finding a group of people interested in psychic or intuitive development is one of the best ways to keep your development on track.
This is something to do on your own, but incredibly more effective when you have other people to work with and you can do it in a “safe” environment; one where you are free from judgment or criticism.
I call it my “tribe” – like-minded individuals who all want to improve their abilities. Find a circle locally or online – or create one yourself! You will be amazed at your progress, make new friends, and have fun too.
