In recent research, it has been shown that America’s religious landscape is changing rapidly. While many people choose to be non-religious, many become more spiritual. People choose to be “spiritual but not religious”.
Spirituality is a long journey that requires you to let go of your previous beliefs and discover your true self. Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to do, but only through struggles, one can grow and experience the true magic of spiritual awakening.
There is no shortcut to the path to awakening, but there are ways to help you in your process.
1. In order to be fully alive, fully human, and fully awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.
Even though it is the basic human desire to seek safety and comfort, we can only grow when we are pushed to our limits. The universe has its own way of throwing you off balance whenever you get too comfortable.
In order to grow spiritually, you have to step into the unknown. Although it can be a bit difficult, it turns out to be very rewarding in the end.
2. “Hard times require furious dancing.”
~ Alice Walker
Dancing has always been a part of spiritual practices since long ago. It is a way to unite the physical and spiritual self.
Dancing for the sake of it in its purest form without any purpose or distraction is helpful in spiritual awakening.
3. “People are about as happy as they command their minds to be.”
~ Abraham Lincoln
We live in a world where we judge our happiness based on our material possessions. We limit our own happiness and the ability to be happy. Don’t put your happiness in the hands of others.
4. “Kindness is the highest form of wisdom.”
~ The Talmud
The key part of a spiritual journey is moving from the negative past to a world seen through the eyes of kindness. If you focus on positivity, you will attract positivity.
5. “Follow your happiness and the doors will open where there were only walls.”
~ Joseph Campbell
Once you let go of your materialistic beliefs, you will be able to see the world very differently. You will be able to focus on your spirit’s call to serve.
