Why 2020 is Such an Important Year, According to Astrology

2020 has always been destined to be an important year. It contains some of the most important planetary alignments we have seen in a long time involving Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto, as well as six eclipses and many retrogrades.

In numerology, 2020 is a number 4 year, and 4 represents going back home and learning to feel comfortable and safe, no matter what is going on around us. The 2020 digital code also represents endless possibilities when we work together.

Many of us seem to be embracing this energy now as we take shelter at home to protect our fellow citizens.

If you’re wondering what the cosmic sky is showing and how you can best use this energy, here is a breakdown:

Everything began with the conjunction between Saturn and Pluto:

On January 21, 2020, Saturn and Pluto met in an extremely rare configuration under the sign of Capricorn. When we look at the past to see what happened under the previous Saturn-Pluto alignments, we see war, economic problems, power struggles, and mass diseases, but we also see the impactful and lasting change that sets the planet on a new path.

To be clear, Saturn and Pluto are not there to create tragic world events, they are rather there to guide transformation and provide all the lessons necessary for life on Earth to continue to evolve.

Although there are typical manifestations of Saturn and Pluto, each alignment has its own unique signature and the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in 2020 must be considered alone so that we can decipher the story it is trying to tell today.

Of course, this story is still being written because even if the alignment peaked in January, we are still sailing in the undulations and waves it created. As we work on the first part of this journey, which I believe will last until the beginning of May 2020, our attention turns to the ensuing destruction, uncertainty, and chaos.

Almost all powerful transformations begin with some end or destruction, and that is what we are seeing in the world right now. During this phase, we feel like we are wading in the dark and it is difficult to see where we are going, what is true and what will be the result.

Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth and is responsible for the agitation of darkness so that it can bring it to light. We just have to be patient as we go through the dark uncertainty and find comfort knowing that the light will rise again.

Meanwhile, we are also slowly beginning to see as a society what resists pressure and what is weak and collapses. Know that any crumb will fuel the rebirth, and with Pluto involved, this rebirth always guides us to a more powerful place.

With all of these changes, we can feel our emotions increasing and seeing things intensify on the world stage. Increased energies during a prolonged state of time can sometimes drag us down, which is why we need to create as much inner balance as possible.

With Saturn and Pluto, the trick is to regain our own personal power and remember how strong, resilient and awesome we are. Think of a time when you felt most powerful and resilient and conjure up that image and that feeling. You have that!

Retrogrades create a turning point:

On April 24, Pluto becomes retrograde until October 4, and Saturn becomes retrograde on May 10 until September 28. As Saturn and Pluto go into retrograde (but especially Saturn), things are likely to be resolved and we will have the opportunity to catch our breath and look at the events that have taken place not only since January but until October 2019, to see what we may have missed the first time.

During this period from May to October 2020, the wave or ripples of energy are always present, but their effects will slow down, which gives us time to understand the next steps and the strategies we will take.

As things slow down, if you’ve ever worked with retrograde energy, you will know that now is not the time to give up the lessons that have been shown to us. It is rather the time to put them into practice and really listen and pay attention to the signs and clues of the past.

The retrogrades are not the time to rush and this will be amplified, because it will not only be Saturn and Pluto in retrograde for the moment. From May to October, Venus, Jupiter, Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Chiron, and Uranus will all be retrograde at some point.

It is an incredible amount of retrograde energy, which will guide us to slow down and check the facts before we go ahead. Although this period allows us to reflect, at the end of June and the beginning of July, we have some powerful eclipses, so this period can be interesting to watch too.

Saturn settles in Aquarius:

The end of the journey will probably come when Saturn settles definitively in Aquarius on December 17. A few days later, on December 21, Saturn also aligns with Jupiter, which is another super alignment known as the Great Conjunction, and this will bring a new cycle to work with.

It is at this stage of the journey that we can look back and understand the story that unfolded. Think of the caterpillar that enters the cocoon. It is dark, it is not sure what will happen, but once it emerges, it understands the process it had to go through. It understands that its old life had to end so that it could realize its true potential.

The significance of Saturn in Aquarius can also give us clues about the direction we will take in the next few years. Saturn in Aquarius is about building community, humanitarianism, technological advancements and thinking about how we can work together for the greater good.

A new world is rising, and we have all chosen to be here right now to ride the wave and give birth to a new way of being. As 2020 draws to a close, we will appreciate the value of feeling at home in ourselves and we will feel ready to enter 2021, the year of creativity!
